A CHILD IS LOCKED IN A CAR!!!
SHOULD I CALL A LOCKSMITH?

Assess the situation. Does the child look distressed or unresponsive. Is it a hot sunny day and is the car in the open?

If so NO. This is potentially a life and death situation and you will need to break a window yourself and call 000. If you are unable to do this call out for help from a passer by and call 000 for an ambulance. Get water to the child to drink and cool them down by pouring water over them.

On a typical Australian summer day, the temperature inside a parked car can be more than 30C hotter than outside the car. That means that on a 30C day, the temperature inside the car can reach over 60C!

A child left in a parked car under those conditions for even a few minutes can very quickly become distressed, dehydrated and can die from organ failure. If you see anything, you need to act quickly. If you wait, it can be too late.

If the circumstances are less urgent, for example, the car is under cover
or it's night time, and you know the child is OK and well, then we can help you but otherwise, DO NOT WAIT FOR HELP!.
